Samoan language week

Samoan  language week

At the start of the afternoon we ate some coconut. There was no cream, only the hard white parts.

After morning tea we went to the flag post to raise the Samoan flag then we went to the Umu.

The umu was a rocky stove. It stank of carbon monoxide and made my eyes teary. It was a slow process. The umu was burning logs. We went to the hall to watch Room 6’s Assembly. After the assembly ended we went to the Umu and the cooking was finished. I looked at the Umu and there was nothing, only ash. Mr T and Mr tyrell got the newspapers and put them in the bin. All that was left was the banana leaves. Mr.T used tongs to get the leaves and get the roasted banana. We went to the hall again to eat Samoan food. I couldn't wait to eat the food. We waited in line. It was a very big line that reached the other side of the hall. It took a while to get a plastic plate, a spoon and fork. The food was pork, crab meat, salad, buns, fish and noodles. I felt so hungry I chose the pork, the noodles, taro and the buns. They were very tasty. I was in paradise. I went outside and played with the other seniors. It was a good day on Friday June 4th.
