Water care

Hook

“Ewww”, Sarah from Water Care taught us that in the olden days they used pots under the beds to pee and poo in. The sewage would then be thrown into rivers and oceans. Now scientists have developed super bacteria in the sewers to destroy poop and pee bacteria, even unhygienic bacteria.

We did some experiments outside. For the experiments we used volcanic rock, a plastic sheet and we poured water on over the top of the surface. We had to guess how many rivers and we counted the streams too.

Sarah taught us not to put anything down the drain. I cannot put oil or grease down because the oil and grease

would block the drain. The outside drains do not get treated. She told us to be careful around what to put down the drains outside because the water does not get treated.

She also taught us about the wastewater treatment plant and even bacteria too. We need to be careful what we drop even the liquidy stuff too.

Water treatment plant

At the water treatment plant poop and pee goes to the treatment plant and cleans off the dirty stuff. The waste goes to the UV radiation room that destroys bacteria in the poop and pee.

Cleaning water

Clean water is the best thing. We need to look after oceans, drains etc, so that animals are kept safe.
